At the invitation of the Kuznetsovsk City Council the experts of the Association of Energy Auditors and the project “Support of institutional capacity of the Ukrainian cities in development and implementation of sustainable energy development policies” took part in the I City Conference on energy conservation and energy efficiency “Challenge accepted! Energy efficiency in the public sector and housing and communal services sector”, that was held on 16-th October 2015 in Kuznetsovsk.
The aim of the Conference was to provide the participants with knowledge about the basic principles and methods of the efficient use of traditional energy sources, to explain about importance of energy consumption monitoring by buildings of housing and public sector, as well as to discuss opportunities to attract funding for projects of communities thermal modernization.
Project manager Alexander Stetsenko told about the donor and investment resources in energy saving and energy efficiency and environmental protection, that are available in Ukraine. He presented a Catalog of credit, grant programs and programs of international technical assistance in the area of energy efficiency, compiled under the project “Support of institutional capacity of the Ukrainian cities in development and implementation of sustainable energy development policies”, which is implemented by the support of USAID MERP. He presented also the results of research of activities and needs of Ukrainian cities in attracting funds for energy-saving measures, which was carried out under this Project.
Project expert Vadim Litvyn told about technical issues in the modernization and reconstruction of heating systems, energy monitoring of fuel and energy resources. The expert told about the energy monitoring and energy management systems, which are being implemented in Burshtyn and Drohobych under the project “Support of institutional capacity of the Ukrainian cities in development and implementation of sustainable energy development policies”. Burshtyn experience was of special interest for the participants, because Burshtyn is an “energy city”, as well as Kuznetsovsk is, and therefore its experience can be used in Kuznetsovsk.
The Conference was attended by Ukrainian experts on energy efficiency and financial advisors of the leading Ukrainian banks: Tatiana Gordienko – Adviser on financial matters of the project “Energy efficiency in the housing sector of Ukraine» IFC, World Bank Group; Tamara Gordienko – Head of Kuznetsovsk Department of Ukrgasbank; Lyudmila Galushchak – Head of the Bank Business Development Department of Sberbank, and others.
