On 15 – 16 October 2013, Kiev gathers the leaders of sustainable energy market, whose activity is connected with development of industry in Ukraine and Eastern Europe at the 5th International Forum on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency – REF-2013 Kyiv.
To date, Ukraine has a great potential for development of projects in sectors of wind and solar energy, small hydro power, energy from biomass and waste. Also, the other area, which has proven in recent years in Ukraine its feasibility and economic impact, is modernization with the goal to minimize energy consumption along with its efficient use in the industry.
Since the first forum REF Kyiv, renewable energy industry of Ukraine became a separate branch, so starting almost from scratch till now, as data for mid-October shows, the capacity of solar power plants in Ukraine has increased to 480 MW, of wind power plants – exceeded 300 MW, of small hydro power – up to 120 MW, boilers on biomass and solid biofuels – more than 80 MW , power plants on biogas – more than 8 MW.
However, from 2010 to 2013 Ukraine reduced natural gas consumption by 10%, and by 2017, according to the government, plans to reduce it by a further 50%. The main areas are energy efficiency projects aimed at saving gas during heat’s transportation, and also by reducing costs in production of heat by replacing natural gas with alternative energy.
Huge prospects of renewable energy market in Ukraine demonstrates not only the great interest shown by foreign companies in this segment, but also practical steps by Ukrainian investors.
During the last five years REF Kyiv has approved its status as the main meeting point of sustainable energy market players gathering industry leaders, heads of agencies, developers and equipment manufacturers, financiers and investors, the best international experts and representatives of professional associations to create momentum for the development of projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Ukraine, CIS & Eastern Europe.
REF Kyiv – it is not only a platform that allows participants to “keep a finger on the pulse of a new industry,” but also a space for effective business meetings and negotiations, agreements and contracts along with successfully completed projects in Ukraine.
In 2013, REF Kyiv will bring together over 300 senior executives, influencers, government’s representatives and leading industry experts.
The key topics of REF-2013 Kyiv are going to be: public policy and legislation, investment and financing, solar energy, wind energy, small hydropower, bioenergy (biogas, biomass energy), energy efficiency in industry, as well as smart grid.
Important components of the program will be business matchmaking, presentations, industry exhibition, social events (receptions and theme energy parties).
